)1 leaf, 4° (33 × 24 cm) with 20 staves.
26 bar-sketch on a three-stave skeleton score.
34a.A.2 *52.A.2 in Schickling 2003.
N.IV.21.a
)1 double leaf (2 pages of music), 4° (32 × 25 cm) with 24 staves. A complete draft in a three-system skeleton score comprising 61 bars, bearing the autograph heading "Trio in Fa". The bars beginning from b. 57 are indicated as “1° Tempo” and show signs of orchestration: the middle staff is labeled “Trombe” [trumpets], the bottom “archi” [strings], and the top “tutti.” Bars 1–24 largely correspond to bars 1–4 and 7–26 of 34a.A.1.
34a.A.3 *52.A.3 in Schickling 2003.
1 double leaf (2 pages of music), 4° (32 × 25 cm) with 24 staves comprising a draft in full score of the first 12 bars of 34a.A.2. The score lacks indications of instruments, clefs, and tempo. The verso of the leaf is blank. Only 17 staves on p. 1r. and 16 on p. 1v. contain music; the eleventh staff includes only rests and does not continue on the verso. The parts correspond to the instrumentation found in 34a.B.1/1.
34a.B.1
Full score, preserved in separate manuscripts.
1 leaf, 2° (35,5 x 27 cm) with 20 staves, containing 12 bars. On the recto, the top margin bears the inscriptions "All° Vivo" (left corner), "Scherzo" (center), and "G. Puccini" (right corner). In a different handwriting, also on the recto, appear the circled number "19" and, at the top center of the verso, the note "pag. 19 valzer atto 1", which implicitly refers to the piano-vocal score of the opera Le Villi (60).
After examining the entire series of manuscripts prior to their separation, the handwriting that added the comments "19" on the recto and "pag. 19 valzer atto 1" on the verso matches the annotations found in 34a.B.1/3 and 34a.B.1/4.
1 double leaf, 2° (36,5 x 27 cm) with 20 staves, containing 26 bars. On p. 2r., along the right margin, appears a vertical series of numbers: "174", "48 48 | 92", "56 | 56 | 112". The final segment of the series corresponds to the combined bar count of the Scherzo and Trio, each comprising 56 bars—excluding the 4-bar introduction and the 4-bar transition between the Trio and the return of the Scherzo—for a total of 112 bars.
1 leaf, 2° (35,5 x 27 cm) with 20 staves, containing 13 bars. On the top margin of the recto, in a different handwriting, appears the annotation: "pag. 13. brano del tempo di Valzer nel I° atto".
1 double leaf, 2° (36,5 x 27 cm) with 20 staves, containing 10 bars. On the top margin, in a different handwriting, appears the annotation: "brano delle Villi." A lacuna in the top left corner (corresponding to no. 52 of the score) renders the ottavino and flute parts unreadable, and partially obscures the clarinet part in the first bar, as well as the flute parts in the second bar (no. 53).
1 double leaf, 4° (33 x 25 cm) with 24 staves, containing 4 bars, written on a single page, corresponding to the final measures of 34a.B.1/4.
